Q. How much is the study programme going to cost?
A. Surprisingly little. From just £1.98 per week, children can access all available subjects. You can subscribe to the Schoolfriend course in renewable periods of either 3, 6 or 12 months.
Q. Can we sign up for one subject only or do we have to do all of them?
A. You can sign up for one subject or all the subjects. The cost is from just £1.98 a week in total for unlimited access to subjects you wish your child to study with us. Schoolfriend is entirely flexible and designed to meet you and your child's requirements at all times.
Q. Any discounts for more than one child in a family joining?
A. We do not offer discounts, as one of Schoolfriend's many strengths is that we treat each child as an individual, tracing his or her own path through the National Curriculum jungle. For this we charge an individual rate from a modest cost of just £1.98 a week.
Q. What about important school tests and exams? Will Schoolfriend be able to help?
A. Yes. Schoolfriend will work with your child whenever you want, and we have an endless supply of questions, along with a tireless ability to assess work, until your child has mastered a topic. Schoolfriend is unashamedly academic: results of worldwide research show that short, concentrated periods of work, lasting about 15 minutes, optimise learning. Our tuition is therefore designed to match with young children's attention spans.
Q. How does the computer work out at what level my child should start?
A. Your child takes an initial assessment test that the computer analyses for the accuracy and speed in which it was completed. Using this information, the computer generates an exercise that is totally tailored and matched to your child's level of ability. In other words, customised tuition.
Q. What happens if my child is stuck on a topic?
A. Your child can press the HINT button for a little help on a particular problem. However, if it becomes clear that more detailed explanation is required, the system automatically sends down a tutorial with your child's next exercise. This gives them a step-by-step guide on how to go about tackling the problem.
Q. In the past, I've bought one of those Maths CDs but they offer the same tests/exercises for everyone. In general, how does Schoolfriend differ?
A. The difference between Schoolfriend and any other learning systems currently available is that our specially devised program shapes itself to a child's particular needs. Unlike CD's there are no set questions or problems, only customised exercises, since we recognise the fact that in real life, every child is a unique individual. That's why every exercise the child receives from us is uniquely created just for them. It's the difference between having one-to-one tuition and twenty-to-one tuition! Schoolfriend helps children overcome their particular weaknesses and fortify their particular strengths.
Q. Do they have to work on their exercises every night?
A. Not at all. Each exercise is designed to last approximately 15 minutes and we recommend that children should do an exercise 3 or 4 times a week. However, Schoolfriend. is flexible so, for example, if one week your children are extra motivated or a big test/problem topic is looming, they can use the program as much as they desire.
Q. Can't my children use Schoolfriend whilst they're at school?
A. Yes. Please ask your school to contact us on 0870 442 2287 or email us at info@schoolfriend.co.uk
Q. Is there any way that I can see how my child is doing?
A. Of course. Every child has an account with us and every parent has a password for that account. So at any time, you can see exactly what progress your child is making. All information is kept securely on the site and is only accessible to the parent via the parent's password.
Q. How does my child move on through the levels?
A. By taking into account the accuracy, speed and Help needed for each exercise, the system is able to calculate when a child is ready to progress to the next level of work.
Q. Terrific. How do I join?
A. Just click the Registration button and you'll go straight to the Schoolfriend Registration Page.
