How Does it Work

Schoolfriend is an exciting, interactive learning system that works at a child’s own pace to help improve numeracy and literacy. The programme covers Key Stages 1, 2 and 3, building confidence and ability.

Schoolfriend works with hundreds of schools across the country. Children have improved their school results by up to 67% with regular use of Schoolfriend. An independent study by the Institute of Education confirmed that children using Schoolfriend show an improved level of literacy and numeracy beyond that expected from daily attendance at school.

Step by Step Guide

Easy to use
Schoolfriend is easy to use, does not require installation and is ideal for use in class. With minimal supervision, children can get on with exercises that are automatically marked by the programme.

Tailored to the child’s ability
The individualised nature of the exercises means that all abilities are catered for, from those struggling to those requiring more challenging material.

Key subjects covered
Schoolfriend concentrates on Maths, Spelling & Vocabulary, with Phonicfriend offering a phonic reading programme that makes learning to read fun and engaging.

Seamless monitoring and reporting
Progress is monitored each time a child uses Schoolfriend. At the end of term, schools receive detailed reports for each child, indicating areas of strength and weakness. Teachers can also access reports during the term.

Costs

Costs for schools are set on a case-by-case basis. As Schoolfriend is approved by Curriculum Online your e-Learning credits can offset some of the costs.

FAQs

Below are FAQs on using Schoolfriend at school. Click here for generic FAQs on how Schoolfriend works.

Is Schoolfriend aligned with the National Curriculum?
All questions are designed by subject specialists and aligned with the National Curriculum for 4-13 year olds. The level that each child works at depends on their ability rather than their school year; enabling children to spend as much time as they need on mastering new topics.

Will homework suffer if children use Schoolfriend in their own time?
Schoolfriend exercises last approximately 15-20 minutes and are recommended for use three to four times a week. Far from interfering with homework, Schoolfriend often motivates children by building their confidence and ability.

Can Schoolfriend exercises be set as homework?
Absolutely, and children love it when they’re asked to do Schoolfriend exercises as homework. You can even set specific topics to follow up after a lesson, in preparation for a test or to bring a child up to speed with the class.

Will Schoolfriend confuse a child's learning in the classroom?
Schoolfriend complements work done in the classroom. Hints are available to prompt children having difficulty, with full Tutorials providing step-by-step guides on solving the problem when they are totally stuck.

How do teachers monitor progress?
Teachers have password protected access to a child's account and progress reports. Although schools receive full reports at the end of term, they can login at any time to view ongoing progress and areas of strength or weakness.
